I am many things: wife, mother, daughter, sister, student, storyteller, friend, lover, fighter, whirlwind-writer. Oklahoma is my home, the place where eleven generations of my family have lived and died. It is the place that was promised to them at the end of The Trail of Tears. And I, their ever-so-great-granddaughter, am proud to call this cruel and beautiful land my own. The dust may be gone, but the whirlwind still kicks up a storm.
